Darrius Barnes T'09 of Raleigh, N.C., is majoring in sociology and pursuing a markets and management certificate. He is a member of the Duke soccer team and, as a freshman, was selected Duke Rookie of the Year. During his sophomore season, Darrius started in 19 games and tallied three assists. He also traveled with the team to Germany last summer. Off the field, Darrius has been a tutor and mentor at a Durham County public school.

Carina Barnett-Loro T'09 of Durham, NC is a Benjamin N. Duke scholar and is double majoring in Environmental Science and Policy and International Comparative Studies. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Environmental Alliance and as a member of College Connection, a group that organizes seminars for lower-income Duke Employees and their children on how to navigate the college application process. She shares her passion for the environment and nature through her involvement in the pre-orientation program, Project WILD (Wilderness Initiative for Learning at Duke) and as a LEAPS (Learning through Experience, Action, Participation, and Service) discussion facilitator for Writing 20-Conservation Biology.

Vik Devisetty T'02, M'07, B'07 of Buffalo Grove, IL, is in his fifth and final year of an MD/MBA/MPH at the School of Medicine, the Fuqua School of Business, and the UNC School of Public Health, respectively. During his undergraduate years, he majored in political science and chemistry and minored in religion. Vik spent this past summer in Washington D.C. doing health care consulting for Avalere Health LLC. His research focuses on health care operations and mathematical frameworks for improving outpatient care. During his nine years at Duke, Vik has been a productive and active leader in the Graduate & Professional Student Council, Davison Council, Campus Council, and Duke Student Government. He also serves as a member of the Medical Center Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees. In the fall, Vik plans to start a residency in internal medicine.
